Element 7a. School Executive Mirco-political Leadership: The school executive develops systems and relationships to leverage staff expertise and influence in order to affect the school's identity, culture, and performance.
Artifact 1: Maximizing Resources through the Usage of Teacher Leader(s)
Example of Mrs. Lanier's Data Presentation |
Prior to teaching 6th grade ELA and social studies, Mrs. Lanier served as a curriculum specialist of the middle school before we merged into one school.
Mrs. Lanier is extremely knowledgable with 6th-8th grade Common Core curriculum. Therefore, she has lead multiple professional development to meet the needs of teachers over the school year. On Tuesday's and Thursday's Mrs. Lanier co-teaches with another ELA teacher, serving as a small group instruction facilitator. She also has modeled lessons for the beginning teachers in our building. Mrs. Lanier has an extensive literacy background. Therefore, she was nominated to serve as the school's Reading Association representative. She works with teachers ensure they are maximizing their Accelerated Reader and NC Ready resources. As displayed in her data, her instructional practices empowers students to make tremendous academic gains! Displaying her leadership was a strategic move to foster a culture that would cause a ripple effect, encouraging more teachers to take ownership of their students' data. It was imperative as a leader that I found a way to maximize her knowledge to support our vision and SIT goal, while building the capacity of other teachers in our building. |
Artifact 2: Assessing Staff Expertise through the use of Human Resource Questionaire
I created a document in which I could gain insight about my staff member's since I was new to the school this year. This gave me the opportunity to gauge who was working in the building, as well as their perspectives about Kenansville Elementary.
Also, I conducted mini-informal interviews with every teacher to get to know them as an individual inside and outside of school.
I used the information input the Human Capital spreadsheet below in which I embedded talking points for each staff member.
Overall, this resource was a critical component for leveraging the expertise of the Kenansville Staff.
